Are You Just Surviving at Work? Maybe It’s Time to Stop
I’ve spent years watching people’s inner fire slowly burn out. Colleagues, employees, managers, human beings full of ideas, curiosity, skills, and sensitivity, showing up a little more bent each week. Still present in body, but the spark? Gone.
I’ve seen blank stares in meetings. Silences that said more than words. And “I’m fine”s barely whispered.
I’ve heard things like: "I don’t even know why I do what I do anymore." "I feel like a robot." "No one cares about me."
"If I leave, no one will even notice."
Why are so many professionals losing their sense of purpose?
Every day, smart, curious, committed people feel increasingly disconnected from what once made them come alive.
Work, which could be a space for expression, growth, and contribution becomes a series of tasks to complete, expectations to meet, and emotions to suppress.
And it’s not about a lack of competence or resilience.
It’s something deeper. A silent breakdown that creeps in when workplaces run on autopilot. When pressure outweighs listening. When KPIs hide the loneliness. When we expect humans to operate like machines.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with inspiring professionals. Leaders who knew how to build trust. Colleagues who fostered collaboration, even under stress.
These moments shaped my work. They made me want to dig deeper, understand, and share what I’ve learned.
But I’ve also seen the other side. The offices where no one says “Good morning.” Where nothing you do is ever enough. Where managers demand blind trust but lead like tyrants.
Where feedback only points out what’s wrong, never what’s working. Where every problem somehow becomes the employee’s fault. And where managers themselves are thrown into the fire : no training, no support, just one instruction: “Keep your team together.”
These environments leave marks. They create disengagement, withdrawal, and invisible damage that reaches far beyond the workplace.
The real needs we keep ignoring at work
We’ve normalized being overwhelmed, disconnected, and emotionally numb. We’ve turned “I’m fine” into a script.
And yet, we still expect high performance, creativity, and engagement, without creating the conditions that make those things possible.
But the truth is: Being heard. Feeling useful. Setting boundaries. Finding meaning.
None of these are luxuries. They are the foundation of real collaboration, and sustainable performance.
How HR & Souls was born: part intuition, part urgency, and a whole lot of heart
HR & Souls was created from one clear realization: Many of us want to work differently, but few of us know how.
What I offer through HR & Souls is a space for real, structured, human-centered support.
A space for:
-
Employees who want to take back ownership of their work life,
-
Managers who want to lead with clarity and inspiration,
-
And organizations who want to walk the talk, not just post values on their wall.
Not through grand theories. But with practical, powerful tools designed for the real world, tools that apply at work and in life.
